How I work
PBL + STEM
The STEM+ approach
Colombia’s Ministry of Education promotes STEM+: integrating science, technology, engineering and math so students live active learning experiences and connect with local and global challenges.
The “+” invites schools to bring in other subjects, other local partners and methods such as project-based learning. It isn’t a teaching model but an approach. That’s where STEMGLISH+H fits, adding English and the H for “more human”.

Research with my students
Before STEMGLISH+H she already worked this way: questions about Montería, answered by her students in English.
- 2014
Is business in Montería influenced by English?
Her students surveyed a hundred people and interviewed, on video, business owners with English names in the city’s four shopping areas.
- 2015
Why do people use English to advertise?
Montería’s linguistic landscape: twenty businesses, interviews and surveys to understand why so many signs are in English.
- 2016
Social media as a source of English learning
A proposed experiment: eight students would switch their social media and phones to English for three weeks to measure how much vocabulary they gained.
